Is your catalog ready for EU product identifiers?
From 1 November 2026 every item shipped to an EU consumer needs three product identifiers on its import declaration, and parcels without them can be held. Check your product export here in under a minute.

From Shopify: Products, Export, All products, CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs. From WooCommerce: Products, Export. Any CSV with one row per product or variant works; if a column is not found automatically, pick it below. The newer Shopify Variant Barcodes column, with several typed barcodes per variant, is read too.
What a fix looks like
An example store with 20 variants from two suppliers and a few products of its own. Before: no variant had a supplier part number, one barcode failed its check digit, one variant had no SKU and two shared one. After matching its two supplier price lists:
- 17of 20 variants ready, up from 0
- 16supplier part numbers filled from the supplier lists: 15 matched by barcode, 1 by product name
- 4own-design products, where the store's SKU serves as the part number
- 1invalid barcode replaced with the supplier's valid one
- 3left for the owner: one missing SKU and two variants sharing a SKU, reported rather than renamed
One match was made on product name only, so it is listed for the owner to confirm.
Want the gaps filled for you?
PID-ready catalog. Send your product export and your supplier price lists. I match supplier part numbers to your variants by barcode or SKU, correct invalid barcodes where your supplier has the right one, and send back your export with the gaps filled, a per-variant identifier sheet for your carrier or customs broker, and a short list of anything only you can answer. Nothing is made up: a part number is only filled when a supplier record backs it. Back within 3 working days.
- Up to 500 variantsUSD 149
- Up to 5,000 variantsUSD 349
- More than 5,000quoted from your report
Or write to deadlines@viscousbits.ca. The price is agreed before any work starts, and you only send the export: no store access needed.
What the three identifiers are
- M-PID, your own product code
- Normally the SKU. Mandatory, and it should be unique per variant.
- NS-PID, the manufacturer's or supplier's part number
- Mandatory. If you make the product yourself, your own code can serve.
- S-PID, a standard barcode
- A GTIN, EAN, UPC or ISBN where the product has one. If it has none, the declaration says so.
Shopify has no dedicated field for a supplier part number, so on most Shopify stores the NS-PID is missing on every product. The product export does carry a Google Shopping / Manufacturer part number (MPN) column, filled per variant and empty on most stores: fill it from your supplier price lists, import it back, then map it into whatever your carrier or customs broker reads.
